Traditional Health Worker (THW) Birth Doula Training
Building resilience in our local THW doula workforce!
In November 2025, the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) officially approved our THW Doula Training program—an important milestone for Compass Perinatal Family & Community Support and the communities we serve. With this approval, we’re moving full steam ahead with our first 6-day training, scheduled for early 2026. We’re especially excited to announce that eight scholarships have already been awarded to an incredible and diverse cohort of aspiring community doulas who will begin their training this February. We can’t wait to see the impact they’ll make supporting families across our region!
Beginning in 2026, we will be offering a 6-Day In-Person Training (split across two weekends) in the Marion-Polk Region. Currently, we have scheduled two training cohorts:
Winter '26: 2/20/26 - 2/22/26 ~ and ~ 2/27/26 - 3/1/26 - Applications closed, and scholarships have been awarded!
Spring '26: 4/17/26 - 4/19/26 ~ and ~ 4/24/26 - 4/26/26 - Applications closed - review process is underway!
Summer '26: Dates TBA

Thanks to support from the Willamette Health Council, we have a special opportunity to offer this training at NO COST for our first four cohorts! Individuals must reside in the Marion-Polk Region, agree to our inclusivity policy, and be committed to becoming an active community doula. We will prioritize our under-resourced communities (BIPOC, Low-Income, Disabled, LGBTQIA2S+, Veteran/Military, and more!) for this scholarship registration.
